President Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed he has extended his visit to Europe after being invited to dinner at the glittering Palace of Versailles.

Speaking to reporters while attending the G7 summit in France, the president said he had accepted an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to dine at the opulent 17th-century building on the outskirts of Paris on Wednesday.

And the former New York real estate developer, who has made the “beautification” of the White House one of his second-term priorities, appeared thrilled about the prospect.

“I’m a fan of beautiful places,” Trump said. “And I was leaving in the afternoon and then the French president, who happens to be a very nice man, invited me to dinner at Versailles. And Versailles is not a gold leaf. Versailles is the real deal. And I said, I’d like to do it.”

Trump’s long been vocal about his affinity for gold and previously described modeling one of his Mar-a-Lago ballrooms after the lavish French palace.

As president, Trump has similarly decked out the White House, which has typically boasted less ostentatious accents, to match his preferred aesthetic.

That’s been evident in the Oval Office, where Trump has added gold trim on the crown molding, gold embellishments to the walls, gold fixtures on the fireplace mantle, gold signage outside the entrance and gold coasters bearing his name.

“There’s nothing like gold and there’s nothing like solid gold, but this beautiful office needed it,” Trump previously said.

The president has also attempted to remake other iconic parts of the building, demolishing the historic East Wing, which has long been home to the first lady’s offices, to construct an ornate $400 million ballroom, and paving over the Rose Garden’s grass with white stone.
