“Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost caused some unbridled laughter while taking questions to promote his return as host of “Pop Culture Jeopardy,” revealing he has some uber-famous contacts in his phone and once thought one world-renowned politician would become his “best” friend. The “Weekend Update” co-writer and co-host was asked in a video published Monday who the most famous person in his phone is, admitting through laughter that it’s “probably the one labeled ‘wife.’”Jost has been married to Marvel star Scarlett Johansson since 2020. “I do have some really weird ones, though, ‘cause you just, you know, at ‘SNL’ you end up working really intensely with someone for like a week,” he continued. “And sometimes you like almost feel like, maybe this person’s going to be my best [friend]!” Jost admitted thinking, “Maybe I’m going to talk to Barack Obama all the time!” The former president appeared on “SNL” in 2007 during his first run for office, participating in a “cold open” sketch about then-fellow candidate Hillary Clinton’s Halloween party. Obama also delivered the show’s opening line, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!” at the time. He returned to “SNL” in 2023 for an unannounced and pre-taped cameo. Jost has worked on the NBC sketch comedy show in various capacities, largely as a writer and “Weekend Update” co-host, since 2005. The entertainer confessed that his phone contacts have often led to some potential faux pas. “One of my good friends, his name is Jack Howard, and he’s in my phone right next to Jack Harlow,” said Jost about the Grammy-nominated rapper, who both hosted “SNL” and served as musical guest for the 2022 Halloween episode. He continued, “And so sometimes if I’m scrolling, I’ll call my friend Jack, which I do a lot, and I’ll just hit Jack Harlow. And then I’m like, ‘Oh God, he just got like a weird missed call from me at like 11 p.m.’ And I’m sure he’s like, ‘Dude, this ‘SNL’ guy’s got to let it go.’” Obama isn’t the only former or current president Jost has commented on in recent weeks. He recently shocked “Subway Takes” host Kareem Rahma by predicting President Donald Trump will “get” a third and unconstitutional term, noting he wagered as much when the MAGA leader ran in 2020, recalling, “I was like, if he gets elected, it’s for eight years.” “He’s going to have something where he’s like, ‘Democrats stole my first term because of the impeachment, so I didn’t even have a first term, so this is actually like my first term, so I get one more,’” Jost explained on the popular internet series. Trump has frequently commented on running for a third, unconstitutional term.
