We Tried Billie Eilish's Viral Peel-Off Lip Combo. Here's How It Held Up
Images
If it can last through Billie’s highly energetic 95-minute performances, we had to see how it would hold up on a workday. I'm an LA-based trending news writer covering style, politics, and internet culture. Krista: "It takes a while to apply because you want a steady line, and if you mess up, you're kind of screwed because it stains the area." Bella: "I felt the line was ripping whenever I would talk, which is probably a non-issue if you're not a yapper, but alas, that was not the hand I was dealt." Alana: "I could sit there and apply and reapply the stain over and over just because the peel part is so satisfying. It's hard to get it right the first time (like winged eyeliner, it takes some patience to learn), but once you get the hang of it, the long-lasting payoff feels worth it." Melissa: "The staying power was there. It lasted through lunch and the rest of my day. Before I scrubbed down my lips at the end of the night with my go-to remover, the outline of the Sacheu liner was STILL there, which was both impressive and slightly mortifying." Krista: "This did last while I ate, and I would say at the end of the day the pigment did stay on without having to reapply, so that was a plus!" Evelina: "Long wearing, yes, hydrating NO!!!!!!!" Melissa: "It was definitely long-wear, and lasted day-to-night for me. However, it didn’t feel particularly hydrating. I had to layer gloss over it." Krista: "At the end of the day, all I will say is I had to do a conditioning treatment on my lips because they were so dry! So, unfortunately, for me, I could not feel or notice any benefits of the hyaluronic acid or the vitamin E." Carolina: "I have never tried Tower 28 liners, but this will be added to my shopping list! This was very smooth to use, and the color was very similar to my daily lip liner (NYX Nude Truffle)." Krista: "This was pretty easy to apply for me, but I also am a seasoned lip liner user... I liked how it was darker but natural-looking." Bella: "So creamy! I love a matte finish x creamy liner, so this was awesome. I love Tower28 products because I have sensitive skin, so I am pumped that I like this product so much." Evelina: "This color combination does not work on me at allllll and the Tower 28 liner is the culprit. It looks great on Billie and seems to pull almost mauve-y on her, but I think it looks gray on me... When I applied a nude-y pink gloss in the center it pulled everything together and became something I would wear again." Bella: "The [liner] color was just kind of weird on me. I felt like I looked a little corpsey. .. I don't usually do pinky or taupe shades, but the Tower 28 liner in 'Work of Art' seems way more cool-toned than anything I've tried." Alana: "The combo initially felt like it was missing something on me. Once I added a gloss on top (I used Merit Beauty's Lip Oil in "Maraschino"), it became a look I would actually wear." Melissa: "The combo felt too matte for my liking, and I *much* preferred the final result with a swipe of hydrating, higher-shine gloss over it. I grabbed what was in my purse: Tower 28's Hydrating Lip Oil in "Pistachio", a nude pink, and thought it paired well." Bella: "I think it's nuts that she doesn't top this combo with a gloss, but to each their own. If I were to do this again (which I definitely would — just in shades more complimentary to my coloring), I would do the same steps, but just add something hydrating on top/to the middle." • Carolina: "I don’t own a lip stain, but my everyday lip liner is NYX Nude Truffle ($6)." • Melissa: "The Tower 28 liner reminded me of one of my other favorite rosy nudes: the (also-viral) 'Wherever Walnut' liner from Makeup Forever ($23). Easy to apply, versatile, creamy." • Krista: "My go-to right now is Maybeline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Gone Griege ($8.49). It is darker, but they have a lot of colors, and it is really velvety smooth." • Evelina: "My go-to nude liner is the Iconic London Fuller Pout Sculpting Lip Liner in Unbothered ($22), and I'd say it's as easy to use as the Tower 28, just a better shade match for me." • Sacheu Beauty's Lip Liner STAY-N in "nOOHde" is available on Amazon for $14 • Tower 28's OneLiner in "Work of Art" is available on Amazon and Sephora for $15
