Trump's America 250 Spotlight Could Be Stolen By His Superstar Nemesis

It could be a cruel summer start for Donald Trump. A report from The New York Times published on Wednesday suggested that pop superstar Taylor Swift could tie the knot with her fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce, at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3. Read the full report on The New York Times. The nuptials and ensuing celebrations would, if the report is accurate, fall amid the Fourth of July holiday and Trump’s big weekend, as the president, whom Swift has previously condemned, will be attempting to make America’s 250th birthday celebrations even more all about himself. According to the Times, Swift has rented the venue for several days. A permit has been filed to close surrounding streets from July 2 to midday on July 4. Also, the newspaper reported, hotel rooms have been booked for Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates at a Times Square hotel and gatherings booked at the Garden on the Thursday and Friday. Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August. Trump, once caught on camera enjoying Swift’s “Blank Space,” responded to the news, calling her a “terrific person.” But he’s also had bad blood with the singer, who backed Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterms, Joe Biden against Trump in 2020, and Kamala Harris over Trump in 2024, as well as advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” he posted on his Truth Social platform in 2024 after she endorsed Democratic rival Harris. That same year, the potentially soon-to-be newlyweds became the subject of a right-wing conspiracy theory that wildly claimed they were Democratic operatives who would somehow throw the election for Biden, before he dropped out of the race.
