Larry David, star and creator of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” slammed President Donald Trump for hosting a UFC cage fight event on the White House lawn to celebrate his 80th birthday earlier this month. “It was a travesty,” David told Variety on Tuesday night. “What else can you say about it? It was embarrassing. I was embarrassed to be an American.” A UFC octagon was built on the South Lawn for the event, complete with ads for corporate sponsors. One fighter even delivered a vile insult at former first lady Michelle Obama. #LarryDavid says President Donald Trump's UFC fight at the White House made him "embarrassed to be an American." pic.twitter.com/zFlCfeOwyG David, who is also the co-creator of “Seinfeld,” is a longtime Trump critic. In the past, David has described Trump as a “sociopath” and a “sick man.” He’s also used Trump as a comic foil, mocking the MAGA movement’s red hats in one episode of “Curb” and Trump’s mug shot in another. His comments Tuesday night occurred during the premiere of his new series, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America,” which debuts on HBO and HBO Max this weekend. The series is produced by former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground.
