Jordan Klepper Nails Trump's Latest Insult For Possibly Skipping Key Moment

“Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper blasted President Donald Trump’s stated excuse for potentially not attending the planned signing of an agreement to extend the ceasefire with Iran and open the Strait of Hormuz. While attending the G7 Summit in France on Monday, Trump said he wasn’t sure whether he’d attend the planned signing in Switzerland on Friday. “Well, it depends,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “JD’s coming in for it; he was originally going to do it. I’ll probably be gone by then. We’re having dinner in a day and a half, right? We’re going to be staying quite late.” Klepper questioned the timetable Trump gave, pointing out that a dinner two days before the signing should not prevent him from attending. “You’re not going to make the signing ceremony on Friday because of your dinner on Wednesday? Just say you don’t want to go,” Klepper said. “Don’t insult our intelligence, you know?” Klepper also noted that the restaurant Trump plans to eat at had better be nice, like “Cheesecake Factory or above,” if he’s going to skip what will undoubtedly be a landmark moment in his second term. “The French president, who happens to be a very nice man, invited me to dinner at Versailles, and Versailles is not a gold leaf,” Trump said. “Versailles is the real deal.” “I mean, Versailles is a beautiful palace of gold and mirrors where nothing bad ever happens to rich people,” Klepper said. “It’s his happy place. It’s where the Trump family goes to respawn.” “And of course, if you’re at dinner, you can’t sign an agreement. Who’s ever heard of signing a treaty at Versailles? It can’t be done!” Klepper added.
