(NewsNation) — Republicans Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and wealthy executive Rick Jackson have emerged as their party’s top contenders to replace incumbent Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

Kemp has reached the state’s term limit, opening the door for a crowded field on both sides of the ticket.

Eight Republicans and seven Democrats ran in a crowded field on both sides to move on to November’s general election.

While incumbent Sen. John Ossoff is running unopposed in the primary, five Republicans have emerged to try to unseat him in the general election.

Rep. Mike Collins has advanced to a runoff election and will likely face either Derek Dooley or Buddy Carter.

A number of House races in Georgia are crowded this cycle, including the race for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District after the death of Rep. David Scott.
