Bye to dirt, grease, clogs, and stains, and hello to shiny, clean, looks-like-new freshness.

I'm a mom, Senior Editor on the BuzzFeed Shopping team, and BuzzFeeder since 2015, and am constantly on the lookout for smart, genuinely effective problem-solvers, especially anything cleaning, home, parenting, fashion, and skincare related.

The way I see it, there's the light, easy cleaning we get done every day: washing dishes, wiping down the counters and table after prepping and eating all day, tidying a little as you go, maybe swiping a wet paper towel over a grimy spot on your faucet to quickly take care of it.

Then there's deep cleaning. Where you dedicate TIME to cleaning (but not too much time), and aim to bring whatever it is — your ringed bathtub, your stained kitchen sink, your dust-caked tower fan — back to its original sparkling glory. The products in this post will help you do exactly that, with as little work as possible.

Promising review: "Easy to use and move around. Good power and very effective when using the solution with the foam cannon and then pressure washing cars, high windows, concrete driveway and sidewalk, wood fences, and vinyl siding. This obviously doesn't have the power the monster gas-powered pressure washers do at 3,000 psi, but it offers lower maintenance, is easier to move around, and covers most general needs. I'm very satisfied with it." —MarkyGibz

While it's excellent for those heavy-duty grease problems, it is a tad harsh, so always test in a hidden area before using it on painted surfaces or fabrics.

Promising review: "This tub went without a real cleaning for over a decade. The floor of the tub was discolored, and the faux-tile pattern on the acrylic walls had that orange stuff in the grooves. I've tried many products, including but not limited to CLR, Kaboom, Fabuloso, and Magic Erasers. I scrubbed hard, but nothing really worked. I wound up with a few "slightly more clean" spots, but nothing genuinely clean. I sprayed some of this onto a particularly bad spot on the bottom of the tub, gave it a few minutes, and it just WIPED AWAY with the sponge. Emboldened by my success, I spent my night cleaning the entire bathtub and shower walls." —Crimm

Get a pack of two spray bottles for $20.34 ($10.17 each).

One end has a squeegee, so after you scrub down the shower glass with the sponge, you can flip it over to *poof* away any streakiness.

You only need to buy the handle once, and can use any Magic Erasers for refills, as long as they have the wavy edges. Get eight refills in a lavender scent for $12.94, or twelve unscented extra durable for $13.31.

Promising review: "I love this thing! The handle makes it so much easier to wash the walls in my shower. No more grinding my knuckles against the shower wall as I'm cleaning it. Just a handle and an easy glide. They are thick and sturdy and the normal size of a Magic Eraser. I was hoping they would be thicker, but I'm okay with it. I'm definitely a fan and will buy it again!" —Dawne

Get a device and two refills from Amazon for $12.94.

Promising review: "Wow! It's like having a mini, powerful cleaning assistant. The different brush heads are fantastic – the flat one is perfect for large surfaces like the shower walls and floors, the corner brush gets right into those tricky edges around the sink and toilet, and the dome brush is amazing for curved areas. Instead of scrubbing with all my might, I just guide the scrubber, and it does all the hard work. Soap scum in the shower that used to take ages to remove? Gone in minutes! Burnt food stuck on my stovetop? This thing tackles it like a champ. The battery life is also surprisingly good. I can usually get through a whole bathroom and kitchen cleaning session on a single charge." —Carlos M

Some of the latest and greatest vacs have this built-in — but why not save $ and upgrade the vac you already have with a stick-on version?

Promising review: "Best little light for your vacuum you can get. Charge lasts a long time. The adhesive is sooo strong it’s almost impossible to pull apart to charge. That’s actually a good thing. Because then it doesn’t fall off when you hit things with your vacuum. This shows everything you can’t see. So much so, you can’t stop vacuuming because you realize how dirty it all is." —Technical solutions

My review: The magic of chemistry! When I initially tested it on a small section of caulk (pictured above), the mold completely vanished in just two hours. Application is as easy as using a bottle of elementary school liquid glue. Err on the side of laying it down thickly, so it covers every little bit of the mold on the caulk — you can see a few tiny spots in the after photo that didn't get covered. Not surprisingly, they disappeared when I touched them up, and I finished bleaching the rest of the mold with flawless results.

Yes, it contains bleach, but because it doesn't run at all, I find it easier to use without accidentally staining my clothes than other bleach products. Though I still wear an old t-shirt to be safe! As long as I run the bathroom fan, it doesn't smell too fume-y.

Some reviewers report needing to let it sit for four to five hours (or even overnight) for full effect, but the results are still worth it. It likely depends on your grout, humidity, and how thickly you apply it.

Do future-you a favor and grab a hair catcher too: one for pop-up drains for $13.99, inset drains for $12.99, stall shower drains for $12.95, and bathroom sink drains for $5.98.

Promising review: "The photo [editor's note: above] speaks for itself. Others would always work initially, but the problem would resurface within a week or two. Since this product came with the drain snake, I thought this might help me unclog the issue. I was shocked when, on the first go, this huge, disgusting clump of nasty hair came out, which was clearly clogging the pipes! Glad to have the issue resolved! Need to invest in a better hair catcher for the shower. Definitely recommend if you have a persistent problem." —Katrina

Promising reviews: "Best ever! Saw this in a BuzzFeed article and decided to give it a try and I do not regret it. My board looks beautiful, and my knives and scissors are back to their original condition." —ares

"We’ve been using Thirteen Chefs Mineral Oil on all our hardwood cutting boards, and it’s been fantastic! It keeps the wood nourished, prevents it from drying out, and gives the boards a beautiful, smooth finish. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. This mineral oil has become a must-have for maintaining our kitchen tools!" —Perfect Cents

Promising review: "This is fantastic for cleaning the narrow space between where the metal sliding door track meets the plastic edge of the shower. Normally I'd use an old toothbrush and cotton swab but this is way better. It is decent quality and comfortable to hold while digging into the corners and scrubbing. The pointy end is great for putting a paper towel into the deep corners to dry or get gunk out." —Bonzarelli

Get a pack of two from Amazon for $4.99 (available in 5 color combos).

Promising review: "This is exactly what I had hoped. It's bulletproof. It's soft. It doesn't shed. The bristles are tightly packed, not too soft so as to get sucked back in, but not so stiff that they move around things like keys on your keyboard. The dense bristles also don't allow suction out of the sides, which is an issue with even my old Dyson soft-attachment. This is great for my mechanical keyboard. Awesome for my PC vents and monitor. Cabinets, books, all those places where the stiff-bristle things are useless. This fits fine on my shop vac and Shark upright." —Anthony M

Therapy Clean is a small family-owned biz specializing in plant-based cleaning products that work.

Promising review: "I didn't realize how 'thirsty' my furniture was until I used this product. It made my dining table look great (and it is 20-years-old and used daily). Also, it applies easily and doesn't leave streaks. Highly recommend!" —Keri

The kit includes the pictured velvet record brush, a spray bottle of record cleaner, a stylus brush for the needle, and a small bristled cleaning brush for cleaning the dust off the velvet brush.

Promising review: "I bought this kit immediately after getting some vinyls and a record player. I’m so impressed with how well it cleans! I should’ve taken pictures of what came off of the visibly dirty vinyls (a LOT of dust and a bit of cat hair). While you can make it harder for yourself and clean it on a flat surface, you can simply put your record on the player and hold the brush in one place! It’s so quick and works so well!! This was the help my vinyls so desperately needed to boost their audio quality!" —Susie W

Any marked with a "W/S" means you can use either, of course.

Promising review: "Extremely effective. I own a furniture store. We purposely spread some butter, french fry grease, and pomegranate juice on a Clean Code "S" fabric swatch, and let it sit for a day. Then we put on gloves, put some fluid on a small part of a rag, dabbed at the spill (didn't rub into it), which disintegrated the spill. Did this a few times, and lightly scraped sideways over the spill. You can't even see where the spills were. We keep this swatch on our desk when we write up our sales orders. Every one of our customers who buys a fabric sofa or chair, that has code S fabric, buys one of these or else we include it for free. I ordered a case for our stock." —J. Rasmussen

My review: For a hot second, my Instagram was inundated with ads for a $99 compact ultrasonic retainer cleaner, and while they did convince me I needed one for my four-year-old mouthguard/retainer, I knew I'd be able to find one for wayyy less than that on Amazon.

On the left: My retainer before ultrasonic cleaning. Despite daily post-wear washing with soap and water, there was still tons of disgusting buildup on the inside of it that refused to come off.

On the right: My same retainer, after 3 rounds with it inside-down (the most effective, after experimenting) in the compact ultrasonic cleaner. There's still a tiny bit of grime on there, but it's eons and eons better! I no longer feel that twinge of disgust when I put it in my mouth at night. (You may notice a slight color difference in the photos; I took them during different times of day.)

If you have a retainer in the same shape, I can't recommend trying this more!!

And yes, you can use it for jewelry too! This one's probably a little too small for glasses, but the brand has multiple size options in the listing if that's something you're interested in. I was after something small, that wouldn't take up too much space on my countertop or in storage.

Get it from Amazon for $39.79+ (available in three colors and three sizes).

It's safe to use on silver, gold, brass, and silver-plated metals like aluminum!

Promising review: "Before, my jewelry was so dusty and crusty that my jewelry box was like a doom box where rings and necklaces went to die. It was SO satisfying to do. I recommend wearing gloves, though. I was so excited to try the wipes that I went at it bare-handed, and after one necklace, my fingers were uncomfortably dry. Slid on some gloves, and the rest was a breeze. 10/10 recommend." —Sarah

Get a pack of 20 wipes from Amazon for $9.98 (also available in a 40-pack).

Promising review: "I got an expensive sheep hair chair from CB2. I thought I could just vacuum it but it wasn’t removing the dust/dirt/lint bits and the seat was matting after six months of daily use. This cleaned and smoothed it out well. I got the suggestion from professional furniture restorers. It WILL remove some hairs, particularly if matted, but the hairs are often loose anyway. All dust/dirt/lint bits combed right out and it looks new again." —SH

Technically the directions say you actually only have to wait for two hours to get results, but lots of reviewers let it sit overnight!

Promising review: "Works so well! Way better than baking soda. I was skeptical at first, won me over on my first use. Before buying this, I used baking soda and vinegar, scrubbed and scrubbed, and the oven still did not look clean. I used this spray and let it sit for 5 hours. Wiped with a paper towel, and the built-up grease wiped off without effort. I did repeat it two more times to get the end result. Definitely try it out! Smell is not strong and it did not bother my skin." —Fox

A different type of microfiber than the towels you use for car and house cleaning, these have a super tight weave that's safe for more delicate surfaces like camera lenses, eye glasses, and modern flat screen TVs.

Promising review: "Woah, oh, oh, it's MAGIC! This cloth is amazing! We have tried all sorts of cleaners and they made our TV so much worse. Then, while searching Amazon to find yet another "good" cleaner, I came upon these. No cleaner necessary it says and they were so right! It was that instant gratification you get when you buff the wax off your car." —Lane

Get a three pack from Amazon for $14.99.

Promising review: "A truly great eco-friendly cleaning product! These clean like magic! So much better than the wasteful disposables. Another plus: they clean with just water so no unpleasant artificial cleaning smell." —Sarah D

Get a set of two from Amazon for $11.49.

What's included: Pet power brush, crevice tool, and upright vacuum.

Another key factor here: the motorized brush roll helps loosen even embedded hairs in carpets, so the suction can pick them up.

Promising review: "This vacuum sucks so good. 😎 I’m preparing my office for a new job I just took working from home. What is now my office was once my kitties’ bedroom — in other words, it smelled and was just dirty/hairy. No matter how hard I tried with my other vacuum, it still didn’t feel fully clean. The reviews were promising for this sucker, so I knew it was worth trying out. This thing has the suction power of a black hole. It works like a breeze, and I’ll be able to use it for carpets, area rugs, furniture, hardwood floors, and who knows what else! When I first turned it on, I could tell it was like driving a Lamborghini over my Toyota Prius. It can be surprising at first how much it sticks to the floor, but I fully believe that’s a good thing! I’d say after getting over that initial shock, it’s very easy to use! If you’re hesitating on buying this vacuum, don’t. It’s 100% worth every penny." —Lauren Cappa

Get it from Amazon for $179.99+ (available in three colors and another style).

It features rubber bristles along one edge, and if you flip it, a wide rubber squeegee on the other — some reviewers find the squeegee side is more effective on carpet than the bristles, so could be worth a try! Oh, and the handle telescopes 36–60 inches, so you can store it easily but also like, use it to squeegee off high windows if necessary.

Promising review: "Fantastic product! Between me, my girlfriend, our cat, and our two dogs, the carpet in our apartment was always clogging up our vacuum cleaner. We'd literally have to stop halfway through vacuuming with a pair of scissors to cut away hair that had wrapped around the roller brush. I was looking through BuzzFeed and saw this thing and was like, WOAH I need it! After using it one time, I brought up a pile of hair the size of a football! Until the day we moved, I used this thing every time I planned to vacuum, and it made it so much easier to get through a cleaning day. Definitely recommend this!" —Magesdoitbest

Get it from Amazon for $16.99 (also available in a heavy-duty version).

If you have a longer-haired pet or have someone in your family with long hair, you might also want to grab a Pik-it tool for $8.99, which instantly removes the hair that gets tangled around vacuum cleaner brushes.

Promising reviews: "If you're lazy like I am, this hand vac is perfect for making your cleaning routine faster and easier. I have two cats that shed heavily and this device works amazingly for picking up hair and dander." —C-Man

"I have an Australian shepherd that sheds like crazy!! This helps combat hair on the couch and the floor. Also great for in my car because of all of the different attachments. It does take a while to charge and power fully, but it’s perfect for a quick daily cleaning. It’s not as loud as a normal vacuum. I’d say it’s about a medium volume level. I’ve had this hand-held vacuum for a year now, and it still runs perfectly!" —Morgan

My review: I bought a bottle of this stuff when I moved in 2021 — it was super useful then, and since that point I've used it to clean stubborn grease off of kitchen cabinets and my stove's hood several times, and pulled it out for several other mystery sticky stains and messes. But the move story is the most compelling:

Back then, my partner had hung up these posters that used big foam adhesive squares (no, they were not Command Strips), and when we pulled them off the wall, they left a bunch of foam and sticky stuff behind. Goo Gone (plus a plastic scraper) came to the rescue! It took a little patience, but the stuff would never have come off without the Goo Gone. It helped break down both the foam stuff and the adhesive, which came off in little bits, leaving nothing behind. We did then wash off the paint with some dish soap and water — Goo Gone is super greasy — but by the end, you couldn't tell anything had been there at all, and the paint was undamaged.

Promising review: "I misplaced some of my daughter’s patches and badges on her scout vest with Badge Magic. THIS WAS AMAZING. I tested one of my two-year-old's shirts that was accidentally washed with stickers on it. The sticky residue would not come off. This took it off with ease! Then tried on my daughter’s vest and VOILA! All traces of Badge Magic and badge imprints, gone. Highly recommend!" —charmedaj82

Get two bottles from Amazon for $15.97 (they also make a spray-on version for $19.98).

And not only did it work immediately but now I’ve gone weeks with no return of the smell either! Can’t recommend enough." —Madison Bean

"I thought our dishwasher was just old and didn't clean well due to the hard water. But, when I gave these a try, I immediately had clean dishes without spots." —Rebecca Park Totilo

This also works on durablend, vinyl, compound, saffiano, faux and other leather or leather-like surfaces.

Promising reviews: "Was skeptical using this product on my favorite Celine bag, so I tested it out on a stain on the bottom of my bag just in case something bad happened. It quickly removed that stain and I continued to use the spray on a stain I got from my black jeans. Like magic the stain was gone and my bag has been restored! Would definitely recommend!" —Sarah P.

Get it and a microfiber cloth from Amazon for $19.98.

Promising review: "I bought this on a whim in last attempts to save my favorite duvet cover. The pills had gotten to the point where it was seriously uncomfortable to sleep with them getting all up in my leg space. I thought I was going to have to get a new duvet cover entirely. Along came this li'l baby. Not only is my duvet cover basically brand new, but I have found a new hobby. I’m depilling everything. Sweatshirts, leggings, blankets, socks, anything that looks like it needs some love. It does the job quickly and leaves everything looking fresh." —Dena Jensen

Promising reviews: "I have very hard water in my apartment and the hard water stains and soap scum are so hard to clean in my bathroom. I've used Magic Erasers, several different types of soap scum cleaners, industrial bleach, etc. The instant I rubbed the pink stuff on the hard water stains in my tub, they came off immediately with hardly any elbow grease. It barely took any effort and soap scum and hard water stains just rubbed away instantly. I highly recommend it!!" —Seven

"I saw this in a BuzzFeed article and thought, no way it's THAT good....It's that good. It's better than good. My shower looks better than new. It took rust stains off the tile. It took years of hard water scale buildup off in seconds. It is literally a miracle product." —Amazon Customer

It only takes a few swipes to remove grease, oil, tar, ink, paint, permanent marker, food stains, and so much more from all kinds of surfaces like fabric, carpet, leather, and painted walls.

Promising review: "Magical. Look no further. These wipes got — no joke — 50 year-old tape goop off of the walls in our home's laundry room. I have a wall in my kitchen that my big dog likes to lay against and I have never been able to get it 100% clean. These wipes made it look like I put a fresh coat of paint on the wall. Get these for anything you need to clean that you thought was hopeless. You won't regret it!" —Joy

Promising review: "A little water boil over? Bam! Stained. It was ugly. I read about this from a person that cleans houses and it works! No more ugly stovetop. Clean. Like new. Sweet! Now granted it might take a little bit of elbow grease to scrape off the dried residue and apply cleaner with the scrub pad but it is so worth it. It wasn’t bad but it just didn’t look clean no matter how often i washed the top. Now, I am ready with the proper cleaning tools to get the job done. If you have a glass top stove, get this." —P. Hustead

Promising review: "I have a 19-year-old master bathroom toilet that had accumulated some nasty stains over time which regular toilet brushes and cleaning products just would not remove. Pumice stone worked like a charm! Given the nature and severity of the stains, it required some elbow grease, but 10 minutes later I have a new-looking bowl, and I see no signs of scratching. Am very happy with this purchase...well worth the very low price!" —Happy Retiree

Just swish once or twice, let it fizz for about five minutes, then lazily scrub with a toilet brush. You'll probably still need a pumice stone to get it clean the first time, but regular use of these can help keep your toilet hard-water-stain-free for longer.

These are both made and sold by Bombs Away, an Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania-based small business that sells handmade cleaning and bath products.

While it doesn't replace manual toilet bowl cleaning, it does a great job at extending the time between the dreaded task. The first couple of times I used this stamp, there was a bit of a learning challenge, but now that I have the hang of it, it is pretty simple to use." —Jane and her Dragons

Promising review: "This thing is the greatest invention since sliced bread! It actually works! and works great at cleaning all my screens, from the small motor home screens to our large patio screen. We live in southern Utah where the red dirt/dust is everywhere and this simple tool takes the work out of cleaning screens. My secret to using this tool is to have a bucket of sudsy water to dip the head into occasionally as you run it up and down and side by side. No streaks, no dirt, no fuss; plus it's gentle on the screen." —KarenLynn

This one from Oxo is very thin so it can squeeze into tight crevices. To clean it you just run it through a gentle cycle in the washer and air-dry.

My Yeti that is 5+ years old and had 5+ years of tea tannins built up is now sparkling clean like it was brand new!! I put boiling hot water in each cup, dropped in the magical nugget, and let it sit over night. A good scrub and I could sell this as an unused Yeti tumbler!! Worth the money and time!!!" —B.J. My review: My mom's had stainless appliances for well over a decade and a half now, and discovered this spray from reading our posts, and said it works *wonderfully*, truly 100% better than any other kind of stainless cleaners she'd tried in the past!! So naturally, I bought a bottle when we moved to a place with stainless steel appliances, and I second every word she says. It's fast, cleans off all kinds of stains, and leaves a like-new shiny finish with a simple spray and wipe! If I'm in a hurry, I'll also use it on our granite counters and wood cabinets, and it works well there, too.

Angry Orange, a small biz started in 2014, makes all kinds of supplies to clean up after your pets!

Promising reviews: "I decided to buy this product after reading the reviews. I bought it because we have four big, BIG, HAIRY dogs that think they are Chichuahuas and should be inside all the time, and I'm very self-conscious of their smell any time someone comes to our house. I vacuum everyday, and I use carpet deodorizers often, but still... there is always a faint dog "scent" that remains. Angry Orange smells very orangey (of course!) when you apply it, but the scent doesn't last long. When it fades, it takes with it the dog scent also.

It doesn't mask it, like other products, it takes it away!!! I have a couple of family members that have very good noses and who are very vocal and opinionated, and even they said that they could not smell dogs after using this magical concoction." —Miriam B

Promising review: "This stuff is seriously amazing! I am relentless about cleaning my tub because I use it so often. Before I purchased this, I used the typical homemade recipe of bleach and powdered dishwashing soap. I’d have to run two or three cycles to get it crystal clear. One cycle with this stuff, 15 minutes, and the results are amazing! I first ran my tub with the solution, then drained it and wiped it down with a sponge. When I refilled the tub up and reran the jets, I kid you not the water was CRYSTAL CLEAR! I’m so impressed!" —Chelsea

BuzzFeed Shopping is service journalism first: our writers and editors spend all day shopping so you don’t have to, vetting products, fact-checking brand claims, and surfacing what actually helps in real life. We center readers over revenue, recommend products with authenticity (using real experiences, not ad-speak), and reflect our diverse audience, inclusive of a variety of price points, people, and needs. We cut through fake deals, favor useful info over glossy fluff, and recommend both budget and splurge options with context so you can decide what’s right for you — and still have a little fun along the way.
