Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired because she “had become a political liability, claiming on Thursday that Bondi’s ouster was caused by her failure to carry out President Donald Trump’s wishes.

Ingraham charted Bondi’s downfall on The Ingraham Angle hours after Trump confirmed on Truth Social on Thursday that the attorney general would be leaving the Department of Justice for a job in the private sector. After naming a few of Bondi’s wins while serving the president, Ingraham turned to the errors that led to her firing, chief among them her actions in relation to files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 

“But, President Trump nevertheless had grown increasingly frustrated by other headlines like this,” she said, showing a critical headline on screen. “Mistakes and redactions in the Epstein files, and then a supposed mistake in information turned over recently to Hill Democrats. But, perhaps, the most scathing criticism of Bondi was about her handling of the Epstein files.”

The host then played the now infamous clip of Bondi claiming in February of last year that the Epstein client list was “sitting on my desk right now,” before quoting Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles scathing criticism of Bondi in an interview with Vanity Fair last year.

“Now, when White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles spoke to Vanity Fair last year about Bondi, the writing seems to be on the wall. Wiles said she completely whiffed,” she said before quoting Wiles. “‘First, she gave them binders full of nothingness, and then she said the witness list or client list was on her desk. There is no client list, and it sure as well wasn’t on her desk.’ In Washington parlance, the ever loyal Pam Bondi had become a political liability.”

Ingraham claimed later in the segment that she considered Bondi a friend, saying that, though the attorney general had many supporters, that was not enough to keep the president happy.

“One day you’re up. The next day, you’re down. A lot of folks really like Pam Bondi. I consider her a friend. I think she is a patriot to this country. And she certainly has been extremely loyal to President Trump,” she said. “But the frustrations on his part were impossible to ignore.”
