Four Fleming County High School students were in a crash Saturday, school officials said in a social media post.

“Our Panther family needs your prayers tonight,” Fleming County High School officials wrote Saturday night. “As many of you know, four of our students were involved in an accident. Our hearts are with them and their families during this time. Please keep each of these students, their loved ones, and everyone affected in your prayers. We are a strong community, and now is the time to come together and support one another.”

The severity of the students’ injuries was not immediately clear Sunday morning. About 200 people had commented on the school’s post as of 9 a.m.

A mother posted that her daughter was in the wreck and was being airlifted to a Cincinnati trauma unit.

“It’s bad,” she said. “Please pray for my baby.”

The same girl’s uncle, Fleming County Judge Executive John Sims Jr., said in a post that the girl, her boyfriend and two other teens were involved in a wreck.

He told the Herald-Leader Sunday morning that the crash, a two-vehicle, head-on collision, happened in Mason County. Sims said three of the students were seniors and one was a junior. Two students were apparently in each vehicle.

“All four of these kids are great kids,” Sims said.

Fleming County Superintendent Brian Creasman expressed similar sentiments.

“Our focus has been on the students and their families. All four of the students are awesome young men and women, I know all four of them. We are praying for them and their families, and will be there to help in any way we can,” said Creasman.

Kentucky State Police said on Sunday morning they did not immediately have details.

School officials in neighboring Mason County also posted about the crash.

“Learning of an accident this evening involving students who attend Fleming County High School,” Mason County High School officials wrote. “I’m unsure of all of the details, but I do know that prayers were requested. Royal Nation, please lift up our neighbors in Fleming County, especially all of those impacted by this evening’s accident, in your prayers tonight and in the days to come.”

Several area churches, including Elizaville Christian Church, Greater Rain Community Church, Stinson Church of Christ, and Grange City Christian Church, also requested prayers for the students
