Sunday snowstorm in Milwaukee? Apple claims 20 inches, but NWS says pump the brakes

The weather app on an iPhone showed the Milwaukee area could receive 20 inches of snow on Sunday, March 15, but the National Weather Service says not so fast. "Categorically false," said meteorologist Cameron Miller with the weather service office in Sullivan on March 10. As explained by Miller, the Apple app doesn't generate a weather forecast based off multiple weather service computer models, but instead will pick one model as "gospel." On top of that, the further the date is away, the worse the weather computer models will be. "It's like a top," Miller said. "The further out in time, the more the top wobbles, the more it becomes unstable." The weather service does anticipate snow on Sunday, but the earliest predictions are 3 to 5 inches of snow north and near Interstate 94 in Milwaukee.
